Creating a Virtual machine

In this Tutorial we are going to see the steps to create a Virtual machine.

To host a virtual machine we need a software which can manage the machine. For this, I choose Oracle VirtualBox. Its a really popular option and its beginner friendly too.

Step 1:  Download Oracle VirtualBox from the link given below and install it on your pc.

Step 2: Open VirtualBox.


Step 2: Creating a VM

Click on the New option. Fill the details and click on next.

Now it will ask for the Memory capacity that you are willing to allocate for the system. i have allocated 2 GB for my machine, you can give your preferred size.

Then it will details about the hard disk for the machine, Here I am going to create a Virtual hard disk. After that it will ask to the type of hard disk that needs to be created, I am going with the Virtual Disk image option. Give your preferred size and location then click on create.

Now the Virtual machine is created.



Step 3: Booting Up the Machine and setting it up.

To boot up the VM click on the start button.



Now it will ask for the iso file of the os. Select the iso file of the os that you prefer and click Start.

The Machine will boot up. 

After Booting it up, install the OS on the VDI that you just created.



After installation remove the optical drive and reboot the machine.

Customize the settings to your own will.

Finally the VM is ready.


You can boot up the VM and work like its a normal machine.

  Create a VM and configure security groups with defined Inbound and Outbound rules like letting traffic through HTTP, ICMP, TCP,SSL(TLS). before creating a instance go to the security group in the dash board. click on create security groups. Click on create new security groups create an instance as usual. while creating select this security group.
